About the Choir:

Since the formation of the Essex Police Choir in 1989, it has established a reputation for fine singing, both in this country and abroad. Its membership is drawn from past and present officers of all ranks, civilian support staff and friends of Essex Police and now has around 55 singing members, plus of course our Musical Director Norman Eastbrook MBE and our Deputy Musical Director Doreen Potter.

The aim of the choir is to enjoy singing, help raise funds for charities and worthy causes and promote good police relations with the general public. Since inception the choir has raised over £200,000 for Essex based Charities. The choir performs free of charge to support charitable events at a wide range of venues and raising funds from our own events to support our chosen charities each year.

The choir sings a wide ranging repertoire, including popular music, arrangements from the shows, spirituals and traditional secular music.  In addition to the choirs concerts in Essex, the choir has also performed in Canada, France, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and Wales. In 2011 the choir are once again on their travels with a tour to Cornwall.
